Some suggestions on Game Play
This is what the Sec 4 Squad usually do when in Captain's Ball competition. You may know already but just little reminders! (Also, you may be going against Boys. Boys like throw balls really high & far so please take note. From past experiences, within 4 passes, they could have scored a goal)
1. Don't waste time holding the ball and deciding on who to pass to.
By then, your opponent would have either tag every of your teammate or someone big might be standing in front of you to block you! Just pass pass pass, real quick.
2. Ensure that your ball travels a longer distance, which means you throw further. If you are blocked by someone, of course you have to get the ball out of your hands asap so passing it to a nearby squadmate is alright. If you keep passing short distances, the chances of interception from the opposing team is very high. If they have very good players in the opposing team, it's very easy for him/her to catch the ball mid-air.
3. Some teams have this blocker, who will stand in front of the captain to block all balls coming. Be careful if the blocker is someone really really tall or who can jump very well. Also, choose a team mate who is tall/can jump high to stand in front of the other team's captain to block out oncoming balls! (VERY IMPORTANT ROLE!)
4. When you want to pass to a squadmate, you can look elsewhere, pretend you are about to throw to another squadmate, but throw it to that squadmate in the end, and call her name so she knows! (Your opposing team won't know everybody's names anyway)
5. Captain should always stick her hands in front or to the side, ready to catch any oncoming ball. Once you come in contact with the ball, you grab it towards your body and hug it like it's worth a billion dollars. Because under some circumstances, the blocker in front of you can tap the ball out of your hands even if you are holding it! Grab it real tight! Captain can always bend her body in front or to the sides, don't have to stand straight all the time.
6. Do a good cheer to scare off everybody! That one where everybody hugs together, puts their right hand into the middle and go "ST NICKS!" real loud. It works. It's like a lucky charm. Cause everytime we do that before the competition, or during breaks. Somehow, our team does much better and eventually wins! ;-D
7. Don't ever be demoralised if you are losing! There's always Hope! Even if you really lose, at least you played a good and fair game & tried your best! :-D
